Pearls on a Budget
November 10, 2006 -

Pearls are the one item of jewelry that every girl can wear. From black Tahitian pearls to lavender freshwater pearls...there's a color that's right for everyone.

Now there is a source for fine pearls that won't wreck your savings account. Pure Pearls was started by a cute, young Texan who also happens to be GIA certified in pearl grading. Amanda Raab goes all over the world to get the goods and her business has become the place to go for budget-friendly, high quality baubles.

If you have always wanted a Tahitian pearl necklace, this baroque one might be the thing...

A strand like this might run as much as $2000, but here it's $450. (The perfectly round Tahitian pearls -- which they have -- are much more costly so the baroque style is a great way to go Tahitian without going broke.)

Everyone needs a classic strand...

This one is a good starter necklace -- and would make a great gift for a diva in training. It's freshwater, so the price is very friendly at $276. They ususally run four or five times that.

As long as we are shopping, I'll tell you that my all-time favorite pick is the classic white South Sea strand. These gumball-sized pearls are the best you can get...

$14,000 for this one, but they can go for as much as $70,000 elsewhere. See how much money you would save! With a bargain like that you can't afford not to get one -- or two.
