Fabulous! Duh. It's always better to swing out for your handbag. In many ways it's more fiscally sound to spend $500 or $1000 for a fine, classic bag than to get a new schlumpy cheap-o bag every couple of months -- assuming you carry the fabu bag for at least a couple of years. Amoritize a delightful, well-made bag over five years and it begins to look like a downright bargain!

This is the Louis Vuitton Speedy for $595. It's the cute little bag that's making a resurgance as "Retro Chic". That's so damn funny to me to think that something I coveted in the eighth grade is now 'retro'...I need some Botox, STAT!

I canvassed several of my chic momma friends and they all agreed that this bag...

The Vuitton Lockit...in various versions from $785-$695, is a great 'cool mom' bag that will then take you back to work after five or more years of toting diapers and Cheerios.

And don't forget about the ever-useful Sac Plat...

It's the classic "haul your life around with you all day" bag. It's $845 and will haul a lot of life for a lot of years.
