Would that we had unlimited budgets! Then all we’d do is log on to Bag Snob and Ms. BagSnob would tell us what the $2000 “It” bag of the moment was and we'd go out and buy it!

While we will continue to fantasize about $2000 handbags, we might want to check out a company called Bag Borrow or Steal. It’s a cute concept. You subscribe at different levels ($20, $50 or $100 per month) and you get to borrow from hundreds of current, new — or practically new — bags in your category. They mail them to you…you carry the bag for a week or so, then send it back and get another one!

This is the perfect thing for people who end the year with a closet-full of trendy bags that will never be worn again. I have friends who spend a couple of thousand dollars over the course of the year on just so-so bags. They are of-the-moment or were purchased for an event and will only be worn once or twice. It really turns into a huge waste of money.

I looked at the “Princess” category at Bag Borrow or Steal …it’s $50 a month…and seems like the best balance of high-quality bags with reasonable price.

There were hundreds of darling bags from which to choose; and by my estimate, the retail prices in this category were $300-$550 or so.

Rafe, Isabella Fiore, Juicy Couture — seen above — were some standouts for summer, but they add new bags all the time! There’s also an upgrade option if you want to check out more than one bag at a time. And look at the Lulu Guinness selections...they are Lululovely!

Who is this good for? The budget diva who is constantly keeping up with fashion and buying bags she wears very little after the initial novelty wears off…Aries, Gemini and Sagittarius anyone?
