Mattie's Favorite People, Places and Things...the Dallas Edition
Tuesday, April 30, 2006

There are lots of things that make life better: good Botox, a reliable colorist and a source for inexpensive, trendy accessories -- among others. All these things and many more are on my 'Favorites' page. I have a feeling that this will burgeon into a massive list in time, but here are the basics for now...

Beauty and Health Services:

Anti-aging:  For Botox, fillers and lasers, I go to Dr. Raul P. Rodriguez. He has taken years off my face and now I will not need that facelift any time soon! Even if you can only do one thing, get Botox…it’s amazing.

Anti-aging (less expensive): I go to Planet Beach on Greenville Ave in Dallas and get Lumiere light treatments. This keeps my skin really plump and line free. They also have an acne treatment and you can get your Mystic Tan while you’re there.

Hair Exensions: Tina Yanick in Arlington, TX. She’ll give you subtle volume that is undetectable even to your Momma, or porn star hair that will shock her…your choice. I’ve been going to Tina for years. She does amazing work. (817) 903-4095

Slap-on Hair: Wigs.com. This is where I get my falls and extra pieces. If you are near Dallas, go to the shop on Boll St. and let them do an exact match on your hair.

Hair Cut and Color: Studio One Ten in Dallas 214-522-4110. Color that is rich and subtle or as blonde as you want to go, they do it all. And a hair cut from Jessie will last for months.

Eyebrow grooming: Cindy DiMaggio (972) 523-9921. Good brows can make you look like you had a little ‘work’ done…or got a good night sleep at the very least.

All-round Great Doctor: Internist Donna Casey, M.D. is at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. (214) 691-5491

Mental Health and Change Management: Dorothy Fischer (972) 991-0099. Great for periodic mental and energetic tune-ups.

 Skin care Products:

Retin-a. Your doctor has to prescribe it, but ounce for ounce it’s cheaper than most foo foo face creams at the department store, plus it has actually been proven effective in medical studies.

SkinCeuticals C E  Ferulic: Expensive but one of the few things that actually works and is worth the money. Everyone I know who uses this regularly has seen vast improvements her skin -- myself included!  Find a provider here.

Kiehl’s Abyssine Cream: No need for Crème de la waste of money. Get this stuff instead. $38 for a jar. Several locations or shop online.

 Cosmetic Products:

Foundation: Cover Girl Aqua Smooth in the dark blue, oval compact.

Mascara: L’Oreal Voluminous

Powder: MAC Studio Fix. I will not leave home without it. This amazing powder/makeup will cover a multitude of sins…this is the one cosmetic item you cannot get at the drugstore, but it’s worth every penny.

Lipstick: Revlon Copperberry Glow #470…looks good on almost everybody.

Lip Gloss: the little bitty ones from Milani…they’re cheap and fit into an evening bag or pocket.

More to come….
