More Great Diet-Friendly Snacks
July 5, 2006
So did you perhaps indulge on a few too many hot dogs yesterday? Were you unable to resist the second ice cream sandwich? Are you realizing that even light beer still has calories? If so, you will need a few low-cal snacks to get you back on the right track this next week.
I always keep Pepperidge Farm Very Thin wheat bread around for toast and snacks. With only 33 calories per slice, you’ll do a lot less damage than with regular bread.
If you toast it you can spread some Laughing Cow light cheese on it…

They also have new herb and garlic flavors. For only 35 calories, it makes a great little snack -- especially if you slice a fresh tomato and add a couple of basil leaves.
Also try making a turkey sandwich with the skinny bread and melt a Kraft Fat Free slice over it…

You can have two open-face sandwiches for about 200 calories.
And if you are craving something crunchy-veggie, get rid of that old gloppy, fatty cole slaw and mix together one tablespoon Hellmann’s Light Mayo, 25 calories, with some honey-mustard dressing which is pretty low-cal at around 10 or so calories for a tablespoon.
Toss this over pre-packaged, shredded slaw…

(You can also try the broccoli slaw it you want a different flavor.)
